Mobile Second-screening
This behavior is most widespread among 16-24s (66%), followed closely by 25-35s (62%). At the other end of the age spectrum, mobile second-screening is much less pronounced – just 18% of 55-64s say they have done this. There are also strong differences by region: mobile second-screening is almost twice as common in Asia Pacific (66%) as in Europe (35%).
54% are mobile second-screeners. Overall, an impressive 85% of internet users say that they have multi-screened while watching television – something which shows just how established this behavior has become. Mobiles are the most popular device, being used by more than 50% of the online population. Meanwhile, about a quarter are tablet second-screeners; it’s this device which has seen the fastest increase over the last two years – jumping from 10% in Q4 2011 to 24% at the end of 2013.
